What Is the Alimah Programme?

A complete path to Islamic scholarship — designed with sisters in mind

The Alimah programme is the women's pathway through full Islamic scholarship — the same comprehensive Dars-e-Nizami curriculum as the Alim programme, delivered entirely by qualified female scholars in a fully sisters-only environment.

At Darul Yasin, this is not a trimmed-down or simplified version. Sisters study Arabic, Qur'an, Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, Aqeedah and Seerah to the same high standard — in classes where they are fully at ease to ask questions, engage openly, and grow without any barriers.

Whether you are a mother, a working professional, or a complete beginner — this programme is built around your life, not the other way around. You do not need prior Arabic knowledge. You simply need the intention and the consistency.

  • Taught by qualified female scholars — Alimahs with recognised credentials
  • Fully sisters-only environment — in-person in Leeds and online UK-wide
  • Complete Dars-e-Nizami curriculum — not a shortened or simplified version
  • Classes fit around family life — evenings, weekends, and online from home
🌸

Qualified Female Scholars

All teaching is delivered by qualified Alimahs — women who have completed the full Alimiyyah programme themselves. Recognised credentials, genuine scholarship, and a deep understanding of the needs of sisters.

🔒

Fully Sisters-Only

No mixed classes. No male teachers. Every class — whether in-person in Leeds or live online — is a completely private, sisters-only space. Classes are not recorded, fully respecting your privacy.

📐

The Same Standard of Scholarship

The Alimah programme follows the complete Dars-e-Nizami framework — the same texts, the same progression, and the same rigour as any recognised Darul Uloom in the UK.

🏠

Designed to Fit Your Life

Part-time, evening and weekend classes. Online options mean you can study from home without travel. Structured to work alongside motherhood, work, and everyday life.

Why a Dedicated Sisters Programme

Because sisters deserve a space that is fully theirs

A sisters-only programme is not just a preference — for many sisters, it is the difference between pursuing Islamic knowledge and never feeling comfortable enough to begin.

🤲

Ask questions freely

Sisters often have deeply personal questions about Islamic practice, fiqh for women, purity, marriage, and family life. A sisters-only class creates the space to ask openly — without hesitation.

🔒

Full privacy — classes never recorded

Sisters' classes are never recorded — a firm policy at Darul Yasin, out of full respect for the privacy of female students and teachers alike. Your presence in class stays private.

🌸

Taught by women who understand

Our Alimah scholars are not just teachers — they are women who have walked this same path. They understand the pressures, the doubts, and the realities of studying as a mother, a professional, or a revert.

💬

A community of sisters learning together

When sisters study together, something special happens. Support, encouragement, and accountability between students create a learning environment that goes far beyond the classroom.

🛡️

Our privacy commitment to sisters

Sisters' classes at Darul Yasin are never recorded, never shared, and always taught in a fully sisters-only environment — in-person and online. You will never be taught by or observed by a male teacher or staff member in a sisters' class.

Subjects You Will Study

The complete Islamic sciences — delivered by female scholars

The Alimah programme covers the same comprehensive curriculum as the Alim programme — all Islamic sciences, taught by qualified women who have mastered these disciplines themselves.

🔤

Arabic Language

The gateway to the Qur'an and Islamic texts. Built from the ground up — grammar (Nahw) and morphology (Sarf) developed progressively.

📖

Qur'an with Tajweed

Correct recitation with proper Tajweed rules — reading the Qur'an as it was revealed, with confidence and precision.

📜

Hadith Studies

The sayings and traditions of the Prophet ﷺ — their meanings, contexts, and applications in the daily life of a Muslim woman.

⚖️

Fiqh (Islamic Law)

Rulings for worship and daily practice — including topics particularly relevant for sisters: prayer, purity, marriage, family, and more.

🌙

Aqeedah (Theology)

Core Islamic beliefs and doctrine. A firm, confident grounding in what Muslims believe and the evidence behind it.

📚

Tafsir

Qur'anic commentary and interpretation — understanding the verses of Allah in their proper context, as understood by the scholars.

🌿

Seerah

The life of the Prophet ﷺ — and the lives of the great female companions. A source of inspiration, strength, and guidance for sisters.

🔡

Arabic Grammar

Nahw and Sarf studied in depth and progressively — enabling sisters to engage directly with classical Islamic texts.

Sanatayn — Years 1 & 2

The foundation years — where every sister's journey begins

Sanatayn is the first two years of the Alimah programme. This is the foundation stage — starting from the very beginning, no prior knowledge needed. Learn more about the Sanatayn foundation course. Our curriculum follows the Dars-e-Nizami framework, taught in clear English by qualified female scholars.

Year 1 — Foundations

Building the Base

Year 1 introduces classical Arabic and essential Islamic knowledge. Everything starts from the beginning — complete beginners are welcome and expected.

  • Durūs al-Lughah
  • Qasas an-Nabiyyīn
  • Basic Arabic Grammar (Nahw)
  • Basic Arabic Morphology (Sarf)
  • Hadith for Beginners
  • Essential Du'ās
Year 2 — Development

Deepening the Knowledge

Year 2 builds on the foundation — developing Arabic proficiency and introducing more advanced Islamic texts and disciplines.

  • Ten Lessons in Arabic
  • Arabic Morphology (Sarf)
  • Qasas an-Nabiyyīn (Part 2)
  • Zad at-Talibin
  • Durūs al-Lughah (Volume 2)
  • Safwatul Masadir

By the end of Sanatayn, sisters can:

Read and begin to understand Arabic texts
Have a structured foundation in Islamic knowledge
Progress confidently into higher Alimah study
Engage with the Qur'an and Hadith more directly
Who Is This Programme For?

Sisters at every stage of life — beginners welcome

The Alimah programme at Darul Yasin is built for sisters who want real, structured Islamic knowledge — and who have real lives alongside that desire. Jobs, children, school runs, household responsibilities — all of these are understood and accommodated.

You do not need any prior Arabic knowledge. You do not need a religious background. You simply need the intention to begin and the commitment to attend consistently. Our female scholars will take care of the rest.

Sisters who have completed our Ladies Islamic Classes often progress naturally into the Alimah programme — they are already familiar with our teaching environment and feel at home from day one.

  • No prior Arabic or Islamic knowledge required — we start from the very beginning
  • Suitable for sisters aged 11 and above
  • Fits around motherhood, work, and family commitments
  • Natural progression from our Ladies Islamic Classes
  • Reverts are very welcome — our scholars are experienced with sisters new to the deen
👶

Mothers with Young Children

Evening and weekend classes mean you can study after the children are settled. Online options remove the need for travel entirely — study from your own home.

💼

Working Sisters

The programme is part-time by design — 2 to 6 hours per week. Many of our sisters are full-time professionals who study consistently around their careers.

🌱

Complete Beginners

Sanatayn starts from the very foundations — Arabic alphabet, basic vocabulary, core concepts. If you have never studied before, you are in exactly the right place.

📈

Sisters Seeking Depth

For sisters who have had basic Islamic education but want to go deeper — beyond surface-level knowledge into the Islamic sciences as studied by scholars.

Our Female Scholars

Qualified Alimahs who understand your journey

The quality of your teacher shapes everything. At Darul Yasin, sisters are taught by qualified Alimahs who have completed the full programme themselves — women who bring not only scholarly knowledge, but lived experience of the path you are walking.

Qualified Alimah Graduates

Sisters-Only Teaching — In-Person Leeds & Online UK-Wide

Our female scholars have completed the full Alimiyyah programme through recognised traditional institutions. They hold the same qualifications as Alim graduates and bring that depth of knowledge — in Arabic, Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, Aqeedah and Seerah — to every class they teach.

They are UK-based, English-speaking, and understand the realities of British Muslim women. They know what it is to balance studies with family, and they are genuinely invested in every sister's progress.

  • Recognised Alimiyyah qualifications from established institutions
  • Experienced in teaching sisters at all levels — beginners to advanced
  • Patient, approachable, and personally invested in your growth

Mentoring, Not Just Teaching

How Our Scholars Support You

Our Alimah scholars do not simply deliver content and move on. They know each student by name, track their progress, and adapt the pace where needed. Questions are welcomed — no topic is too personal or too basic to raise in a sisters-only environment.

Regular feedback, consistent progress checks, and genuine care mean that sisters feel supported at every stage — not just at the beginning when motivation is easy.

  • Each sister is known by name and level
  • Regular progress reviews and honest feedback
  • Available to answer questions beyond scheduled class time
Schedule & Commitment

Structured around the reality of sisters' lives

Classes run in the evenings and at weekends — designed around the reality that most sisters have school runs, work, households, and family commitments that don't pause for Islamic studies. You choose what works for your life, and our teachers work with you to find a consistent rhythm.

Online sisters join from home — no travel, no childcare arrangements needed for class itself. Whether you are in Leeds, London, Birmingham, or Edinburgh, you receive the same live teaching, the same Alimah scholar, and the same personal progress tracking.

We teach sisters online from across the UK: Birmingham, Manchester, London, Sheffield, Nottingham, Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Norwich, Milton Keynes and beyond — places where finding a qualified, sisters-only Alimah programme locally is genuinely difficult.

  • Evening and weekend classes — work and family-friendly scheduling
  • 2–6 hours per week depending on your level
  • In-person at our Beeston, Leeds centre — sisters-only sessions
  • Online — live sessions for sisters anywhere in the UK
  • Classes not recorded — your privacy is fully protected
🗓️

Evenings & Weekends

Scheduled around work and family. We help you find a consistent session time you can genuinely maintain over years, not just for the first few months.

🏠

Study from Home

Online sisters join via live sessions from home — no travel, no parking, no juggling childcare for the journey. Your Alimah scholar is live on screen with you.

🔒

Never Recorded

Sisters' classes are never recorded — full stop. Your privacy and the privacy of the teachers in your class are fully protected at all times.

🎖️

Certification at Every Stage

Sisters receive a certificate upon completing key stages of the programme. Your achievement is recognised — at Sanatayn completion and beyond.

What You Will Gain

What the Alimah programme means for your life

This programme does not just add knowledge — it transforms how you engage with your deen, how you raise your children, how you answer questions from family, and how you understand your own relationship with Allah.

Direct Engagement with Qur'an & Hadith

You will be able to engage with the Qur'an and Hadith in their original Arabic — with the tools to understand, reflect, and continue learning independently.

Arabic Language Proficiency

From Sanatayn alone, sisters develop the Arabic foundation to begin reading classical texts. Further years build this into confident scholarly Arabic.

Fiqh for a Muslim Woman's Life

A grounded understanding of Islamic law — including rulings specific to sisters around worship, family, marriage, and daily practice — based on sound scholarly sources.

Confidence to Guide Your Family

Many sisters complete this programme and describe it as the most important gift they gave their children — the ability to teach and guide them with real, rooted knowledge.

Answers That Satisfy, Not Just Rules

Understanding why Islamic rulings exist — not just what they are — gives sisters the confidence to explain their deen to children, family members, and wider communities.

A Lifelong Connection to the Deen

Six years of structured, consistent learning builds a permanent, deep relationship with Islamic scholarship — not a one-off course that fades within months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sisters' questions about the Alimah programme

Yes — the Alimah programme at Darul Yasin is taught entirely by qualified female scholars (Alimahs) in a fully sisters-only environment. No male teachers are present in sisters' classes, whether in-person in Leeds or online across the UK.
No — sisters' classes are never recorded, out of full respect for the privacy of female students and teachers. This is a firm policy at Darul Yasin. If you miss a class, your teacher will guide you on how to catch up with the material covered.
Yes — many of our sisters are mothers with young children. Classes are scheduled in the evenings and at weekends, and the online option means you can study from home without arranging travel or additional childcare. The programme is part-time by design — around 2 to 6 hours per week — which makes it sustainable alongside motherhood for most sisters.
No prior knowledge is required at all. The Sanatayn stage begins from the very foundations — Arabic alphabet, basic vocabulary, and the core Islamic sciences. Complete beginners are expected and welcomed. If you do have prior learning, we will assess your level and advise the most appropriate entry point.
Yes — this is a very common and natural progression. Many sisters who complete our Ladies Islamic Classes move directly into the Alimah programme. They are already familiar with our teaching environment and approach, which makes the transition comfortable and straightforward. Speak to us and we will advise the best entry point based on what you have studied.
Yes — sisters across the UK can join via live online sessions from home. You receive the same qualified female scholars, the same curriculum, and the same personal progress tracking as in-person students. We currently teach sisters from Birmingham, Manchester, London, Sheffield, Nottingham, Edinburgh and beyond. If there is no suitable sisters-only Alimah provision near you, our online programme was built for exactly this situation.
Yes — our female scholars have experience teaching reverts and are genuinely welcoming to sisters who are newer to the deen. The programme starts from the very beginning, no assumptions are made about prior knowledge, and the sisters-only environment means you can ask any question freely without feeling self-conscious.
The curriculum — the texts studied, the subjects covered, and the progression — is the same. Alim refers to a male graduate and Alimah to a female graduate of the Islamic scholarship programme. The difference at Darul Yasin is in delivery: sisters study in a fully sisters-only environment, taught by qualified female scholars, with classes that are never recorded. Both pathways lead to the same structured knowledge and certification.
The full programme is a 6-year part-time course. Years 1 and 2 are Sanatayn — the foundational stage covering Arabic language and the core Islamic sciences. Years 3 to 6 develop progressively deeper knowledge across Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, Aqeedah and advanced Arabic. Many sisters find the knowledge from Sanatayn alone already life-changing — and continue naturally from there into the later years.
Typically 2 to 6 hours per week, depending on your level and stage. This includes scheduled class time (evenings and/or weekends) plus recommended private revision between sessions. The programme is designed to be genuinely manageable alongside family life and work — not to overwhelm sisters into giving up within the first year.
We follow the Hanafi madhab — the school of thought followed by the majority of Muslims in the UK, South Asia and much of the broader Muslim world. Hanafi Fiqh, rulings and methodology are taught throughout the programme. This includes rulings specific to women, which are covered thoroughly.
Yes — sisters receive a certificate at key milestones and upon completing the full Alimah programme. An ijazah — a traditional chain of scholarly transmission — may also be awarded for relevant subjects where applicable, connecting sisters to the living tradition of Islamic scholarship.
Our main intake begins in September each year. We recommend enquiring as early as possible — places are limited to maintain teaching quality and the intimate sisters-only class environment. Call or WhatsApp us on 07731926357 to discuss your application and start date.
