About Weekend Madrasa

Comprehensive Islamic education for children β€” Saturday and Sunday mornings

Whether your child is learning Arabic for the very first time or already reading and needs to strengthen their Tajweed, our Weekend Madrasa in Beeston (LS11) provides the structure, patience and personal attention to help them genuinely progress.

Many parents across South Leeds search for Islamic classes that fit their busy family life. Weekend Madrasa is the answer β€” small groups, comprehensive curriculum, qualified UK teachers, and Saturday and Sunday mornings that work for families with school and work commitments.

We don't just teach Quran reading β€” we build a proper Islamic foundation: correct pronunciation (Makharij), Tajweed rules, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic language, Islamic beliefs (Aqidah), and the kind of Islamic character and adab that parents want to see in their children.

  • Beginner-friendly curriculum β€” Children from age 4, taught through Qa'idah step-by-step from the very beginning
  • Comprehensive Islamic studies β€” Not just Quran, but Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic, Aqidah, Akhlaq and character development

Our Teaching Approach

How we teach β€” and why it works

A lot of madrasas teach Quran. What matters is how they do it. At Darul Yasin, we use a structured, stage-by-stage method that mirrors how children naturally learn β€” building confidence first, then accuracy, then speed and fluency.

Every lesson starts with revision of what was covered previously, before any new material is introduced. This ensures nothing gets forgotten and students genuinely retain what they learn rather than just getting through it.

Our teachers give each student individual feedback within the group setting β€” correcting pronunciation (Makharij) in the moment, not at the end of term. Parents tell us this is the difference they notice: their children are actually improving, not just attending.

Our Method
  • Stage 1 β€” Qa'idah Foundation: Arabic alphabet, letter joining and basic sounds. No rushing past this β€” a weak foundation causes problems later.
  • Stage 2 β€” Fluency Building: Reading practice with correct pronunciation and letter rules. Students build pace without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Stage 3 β€” Tajweed Rules: Formal Tajweed rules introduced once fluency is established.
  • Stage 4 β€” Quran Reading: Working through the Quran with teacher supervision, applying all rules correctly from the start.
  • Stage 5 β€” Hifz Pathway: For students who reach the right level β€” structured memorisation with dedicated revision cycles.

Students progress through stages at their own pace. Your child is never held back β€” or pushed forward before they're ready.

Curriculum

What your child will learn in Weekend Madrasa

A complete Islamic foundation β€” Quran, understanding, recitation, character and faith.

Qur'ān Recitation

Reading fluently through the Quran with correct pronunciation (Makharij) and confidence. Starting from the Arabic alphabet, building to fluent recitation.

Hifz β€” Memorisation

For students ready to memorise β€” structured Quran memorisation with dedicated teachers and revision cycles. Building towards fluent, secure memorisation.

Hadith & Sunnah

Key Prophetic traditions that teach Islamic character, morals and daily living. Understanding the examples and teachings of Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί.

Fiqh β€” Islamic Rulings

Age-appropriate Islamic jurisprudence. How to pray correctly, basic Islamic rulings, and practical Islamic practice suited to daily life.

Arabic & Aqidah

Arabic language foundations and Islamic beliefs. Understanding core Islamic doctrine, plus building the language skills needed for deeper Islamic study.

Akhlaq β€” Character

Islamic character, manners and ethics. Kindness, honesty, respect, and the moral foundation that makes Islamic learning meaningful in daily life.

Dua & Daily Supplications

Essential prayers and supplications your child will use every day. Memorised with meaning and understanding, not just by rote.

What families say

"

I have two daughters who attend Madrasa Darul Yasin. One in qaida class and one in the Quran class. Alhamdulillah the kids are settled and enjoying the quran learning classes. I really like the setup here, they have small class sizes, learning is structured with an Islamic syllabus, staff are qualified and trained. They have a system to track attendance and progress, and we have the opportunity to talk to the class teacher at parents' evenings. The teaching and learning is of high quality, and my daughters are making steady progress. We have no issues with recommending Madrasa Darul Yasin to other local parents.

Three of my children have studied in the weekend Madrasa. Since joining Darul Yasin we have seen huge improvement in reading the quran, excellent Tajweed, staff are qualified and progress is excellent. They track attendance and behaviour, hold parents' evenings and give end of year reports. This is the best local Madrasa in Leeds.
