Ramadan is a month of giving?
Donating during this holy month is considered an act of worship. Giving charity is one of the best ways to increase your blessings and earn reward from Allah.
Here’s a guide to help you donate in Ramadan:
- •Aim to donate at least £1 every day for the first 20 days of Ramadan. This will help you develop a habit of giving and make it easier for you to donate larger amounts later on.
- Increase your donation to £2 on the 21st, 23rd, 25th, and 27th day of Ramadan. These are known as the nights of the odd numbers, and giving charity on these nights is considered especially blessed.
On the last night of Ramadan (either the 29th or 30th night, depending on the sighting of the moon), donate £10.
Laylatul Qadr, this special night is known as Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power, and giving charity on this night is considered equivalent to donating for 1,000 months.

Benefits of donating in Ramadan:
1. Earning reward from Allah: Giving charity is one of the most beloved deeds to Allah, and doing so in Ramadan multiplies your reward many times over.
2. Purification of wealth: By giving away a portion of your wealth, you purify it and make it more beneficial for yourself and others.
3. Helping those in need: Charity is a means of helping the less fortunate and providing for their basic needs. By giving in Ramadan, you can help ensure that people have food to break their fast and other necessities.
Hadiths on charity:
- Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Charity does not decrease wealth.” (Muslim) This hadith reminds us that giving in charity does not diminish our wealth, but rather increases it by earning reward from Allah.
- Abu Dharr (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity, commanding good and forbidding evil is charity, your giving directions to a man lost in the land is charity for you. Your seeing for a man with bad sight is a charity for you, your removal of a rock, a thorn or a bone from the road is charity for you. Your pouring what remains from your bucket into the bucket of your brother is charity for you.” (Tirmidhi) This hadith shows that charity is not just about giving money, but can also include small acts of kindness and good deeds.
In summary, donating in Ramadan is a virtuous act that can bring many blessings and benefits. By following this donation guide and giving regularly, you can develop a habit of giving and earn reward from Allah.
