Health and Wellbeing
Health inequality is a significant issue in the UK, with disadvantaged communities often experiencing lower life expectancy and higher rates of poor health. This problem is compounded for individuals without digital and literacy skills, who may have difficulty accessing healthcare resources and making informed decisions about their health.
Digital tools can empower people to take control of their own health and make the best choices for themselves, while also reducing stress and costs. Additionally, improving digital health literacy can have a positive impact on the delivery of frontline services, easing the burden on the NHS through the use of online services such as repeat prescription ordering, appointment booking, and patient access to medical records.
It is especially important to address health inequalities and improve digital health literacy within Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) communities, which have historically faced discrimination and disparities in healthcare.
By providing equal access to healthcare resources and empowering individuals to take charge of their own health, we can work towards a more equitable and healthy society for all.
